Manuela Gomes research interests focus on bone, cartilage and more recently, tendon tissue engineering strategies, namely in the development of scaffold materials based on biodegradable natural origin polymers, stem cells sourcing (bone marrow and adipose tissue), and dynamic cell culturing systems (bioreactors) for stem cells seeded onto 3D scaffolds; She is also interested in translational aspects of Tissue Engineering, focusing on autologous approaches and cryopreservation of tissue substitutes. Recently her research has been also focusing on magnetic approaches as means to increase the functionality of tissue engineered constructs.

Jan de Boer is a professor of applied cell biology and the chair of cBITE group at the MERLN Institute in Maastricht University. Jan is interested in the molecular complexity of cells and how molecular circuits are involved in cell and tissue function. With a background in mouse and Drosophila genetics, he entered the field of biomedical engineering in 2002 and has since focused on understanding and implementing molecular biology in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. His research is characterized by a holistic approach to both discovery and application, aiming at combining high throughput technologies, computational modeling and experimental cell biology to streamline the wealth of biological knowledge to real clinical applications.

Wing Chang has over 15 years of experience in the field of stem cell biology and over 5 years of experience developing and commercializing research tools for the stem cell field.
